3.1. EL DIÁLOGO THORTON-MACDONALD.
Thorton llega al amenazante rancho de
los MacDonald
MACDONALD (padre de la familia): He's warned us. Better off here, where there's cover. Find a good place inside that shed. Jos and Miguel, go with him. Danny, Felipe, come here. Over behind that wall. You gals, get in the house.
MAC- Matt, we'll wait inside.
MATT- All right, Pa.
MAC- Matt, go to that window. Do
nothing till I tell you.
THORTON: Come out and get your boy.
MACD.- He's dead, ain't he?
TH.- He's dead.
MACD.- Jos, Miguel, get him down
from there.
JOSEY- What happened?
BROTHER- Luke, he's been killed.
MACD.- I'm waiting to hear what
happened.
TH.- I'll tell you what happened.
You left a boy out there to do a man's job. He went to sleep. When I came by,
he woke up, jumped up and started firing his gun. All I saw was somebody
shooting at me from the rocks.
JOSEY- Cole Thornton.
TH.- Yes, ma'am.
JOSEY.- I don't believe you.
TH.- I don't care much, miss,
whether you do or not.
BROTHER- Pa's handling this. Just
wait.
TH.- He told me that. He told me
his name. That's how I knew where to bring him. He said you told him what
happens to a man that's gut shot. How he hasn't got much of a chance. Did you
tell him that?
MACD.- I told him that.
TH.- Then you're partly to blame.
You'll find two bullets in him. One of them's mine. He was hurtin' worse than
he could stand. Had a handgun that I didn't see. Any more questions you want to
ask?
TH.- It don't help much.
MacDonald acepta
